The I-Threes were the most influential female singing group in the history of Jamaican music. A trio, featuring Marcia Griffiths, Rita Marley and Judy Mowatt, the I-Threes provided the rich harmonies for Bob Marley's performances and recordings from 1974 until his death ten years later. Marcia Griffith was already a star when the I-Threes came together. Her duet recordings with Bob Andy, which included "Young, Gifted And Beautiful," had brought her international attention. When she invited Mowatt, who had previously sung with The Gaylettes, and Marley to harmonize with her on a recording with Andy, she set the stage for the trio's formation. The recording session proved so inspiring that she invited the two women to be guests on song that she and Andy were scheduled to perform that evening at the House Of Chen in New Kingston. Shortly after the departure of Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston from The Wailers, Bob Marley asked the three women to sing on his recording, Jah Live. They continued to work together for the next ten years. In early 1975, The I-Threes joined Marley for a tour as opening act for The Jackson Five. Although they continued to perform together following Marley's death, the three women soon elected to pursue solo careers.

Ethiopia
also believed that the Apostle Philip, years after the death of Jesus,
received a divine call and walked south toward Jerusalem, meeting with
an Ethiopian eunuch, treasurer and minister of Cadence queen of
Ethiopia, who arrived in Jerusalem in order to Biblical scripture study. The
eunuch was reading an excerpt from the text of Isaiah of the Old
Testament (who spoke of the coming of the Messiah) and not understand a
passage from the Bible. Philip then told him the life of Jesus, saying that it was the confirmation of the prophetic words of Isaiah. As
they walked a long way came across a river, where the Ethiopian asked
to be baptized, then Philip realized his request and so the eunuch,
hitherto Jew, took his new Christian faith to Ethiopia becoming Queen
Candace. With
the emergence of the Orthodox Church in Ethiopia, the kings began to
respond by the State, the military, and also church leaders. By
disagreeing with certain Catholic dogmas, the Ethiopian Emperor began
to replace the figure of the pope, receiving titles paramount. Throughout
history, the emperors of Ethiopia are named as Yeshua (Jesus) I, II,
III and IV, as well as Newaya Kristos, Yohannes (John) I, II, III and
IV, among others. Moreover,
the Ethiopian throne holder was presented with the scarlet robe
embroidered with gold, the scepter, two spears of gold and diamond ring
with the figure of the Lion of Judah (who claimed to be the legitimate
ring given to his son Solomon Ethiopian Menelik I), a ritual full of symbolism and administered by the archbishop of the Orthodox Church. When
in 1930, Ras Tafari was crowned Emperor of Ethiopia, came to be called
by the name of Haile Selassie I, which in Aramaic means Power of the
Trinity. For
the Jamaicans, the coronation of Selassie I, his ancestry and his
biblical divine titles (King of Kings, Lord of Lords and Conquering Lion
of the Tribe of Judah), claimed Marcus Garvey's prophecy about the coming of a black king and as followers of Christ were called Christians, since the followers of Ras Tafari were identified as Rastafarians. Ras Tafari was 225 º descendant of his dynasty and Jamaica become popular by various preachers affirm faith in his divinity. So,
they settled in various aspects Jamaican mountains, making the
Rastafari movement an eclectic group, with varying rituals and rules,
and therefore one of the only ones curious phenomena without regard
religious leadership. The
role of Marcus Garvey and Ras Tafari, as well as other symbols
generated a specific kind of versatility to the Rastafarian religion. For
many Rastas, Haile Selassie I is the unique and definitive coming of
the messiah, savior of mankind and distanced themselves from the
symbolism of Jesus for its European image and advertising for others,
Ras Tafari is the return of Jesus Christ, while many communities Rastafarian's emerged with different opinions and some of its leaders were also venerated. From then some disintegration began to occur in the movement, although many cultural traits in common can be found to this day.

The Legendary Ethiopia 2/3
Thus the dynasty of Solomon was born in Ethiopia, through a long line of kings with blood ties that came to pass up and currently in commemoration day of St. Michael the Archangel, the Christian Ethiopians parade through the streets of the country with replicas of the Ark of the Covenant, also called the Ark of the Covenant.
The dynasty that began with Menelik I, son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, introduced the Jewish tradition in Ethiopia and since then the Lion of Judah became a symbol of the royal family. This family had a succession of kings unfolded, getting titles like Biblical Solomon, Jacob, David, and others in the fourth century of the Christian era the royal family converted to Orthodox Christianity, influenced by the Egyptians, the founding of the Coptic Orthodox Church Ethiopia, in the same century that arose in the Roman Catholic Church. The Ethiopians claim that the Ark of the Covenant, containing the Ten Commandments of Moses remains unique in Africa at the request of King Solomon himself, already the Roman Catholic Church claims that the Ten Commandments were lost throughout history and recognizes no other version. Furthermore, according to the Orthodox Egyptians, Ethiopians, and with the Armenians, the person of Jesus Christ, although he was a man incarnate, had a single nature strictly divine and only in 1504 at the Council of Chalcedon declared their belief Monophysite (one physical nature of Jesus) and distanced themselves Roman belief that supposes two natures, human and divine, living simultaneously in the personality of Christ.
For centuries, the kings and queens of Ethiopia remained the sole Jewish tradition, Frumentius until converting to Christianity. This had been a slave of the court of Axum (Ethiopia) and his vocation to study, had won the confidence of the king, he became the private secretary of Monarch and responsible for the education of their children.
In the fourth century, the century in which appeared a Roman Catholic institution, the Egyptian Christians held their practices religious (fasting and prayer) in the Egyptian desert and was known as the Desert Fathers, among them were Anthony and Athanasius (later considered holy). Frumentius after gaining freedom, visited Egypt and became one of the most dedicated disciples of Athanasius Coptic Christians received the title of Abba (Father) Salama (Bringer of Light) and returned to Axum as the first bishop of Ethiopia, also called "Top of light". Known today as St. Frumentius, founded by encouraging Athanasius, Coptic Orthodox Church of Ethiopia that became part of the Eastern Churches. Since then the kings and the Ethiopians Solomon's dynasty began to identify as Orthodox Christian kings and St. George was the patron of the chosen nation.
Other episodes mark the entrance of Christianity in the history of the legendary Abyssinia, even before the emergence of the Orthodox Church. They say that the apostle Matthew was living in Ethiopia after the death of Jesus in order to evangelize the Africans and to get there attracted a group made up mostly of women, led by Princess Ephigenia. The king of Ethiopia, outraged by the attitude of the daughter who had denied the wedding invitation from a powerful African prince, requested the help Matthew, considering its strong influence on the princess. The Apostle then said that his help would be to respect the will of Ephigenia (I did not want to get married) and for this reason the king ordered that Matthew was murdered.
The princess hid with her companions for many years, has dedicated his life to Christianity and the teachings of Matthew, founded the first convent of Ethiopia, even in the early years of the Christian era and is now known worldwide, even among Roman Catholics, like Saint Ephigenia, the first black saint of history.

The Legendary Ethiopia 1/3
Ethiopia
The Jamaican black communities (garveytas), formed in 20s, saw Africa as the promised land, especially Ethiopia, because it is an ancient African empire never colonized and responsible for maintaining a culture without any major European influences.
Ethiopia, which has about one hundred dialects and Amharic as official language, also claims a biblical ancestry because they say that their kings are descended from the union of the Ethiopian Queen Makeda of Sheba to King Solomon in Jerusalem, this union was born Menelik I, and then emerge from a dynasty Ethiopians solomonic lands. The biblical texts have King Solomon as an ancestor of Jesus Christ and the Ethiopian book Kebra Nagast recounts the meeting of the King Jerusalem with the Queen of Sheba and consequently the origin of the family tree of the largest African empire of all time, Ethiopia, former Abyssinia (also called Axum and Cush), the only African nation mentioned in all versions of the Bible.
The Kebra Nagast is considered a sacred text for both Orthodox Christians in Ethiopia and for the Jamaican Rastafarians. According to his account history, Queen Makeda (also known as Balkis, or Belkis) Sheba (South), Queen of Ethiopia, knowing of the existence of a wise king of Jerusalem, deep knowledge of the divine laws should go to him to know about his reign and his religious convictions.
The queen was welcomed at the palace of Solomon, who introduced the belief of one God and the principles of Jewish faith. The king of Jerusalem I would spend the night with a virgin queen and have a sexual relationship with her, but this declined the invitation, but proposed a compromise where Solomon she could not make use of their no wealth. Believing it to be very rich and powerful, the queen of Sheba had no doubt that he need not the material wealth of the king, but before bed, Solomon ordered their employees to put enough salt in the Queen's dinner, putting is also a pitcher of water at the head of your bed. At dawn, Makeda became thirsty and drank the water, the king stood up and said she had consumed a great treasure of his realm and asked if he knew the Queen of Sheba wealth greater than water. Both fell in love and this meeting the queen pregnant returned to Ethiopia, left rare animals and works of art that was loaded with great difficulty with his caravan along the arduous journey Middle East and returned to Africa with a historical present: The ring that bore the mark of the lion, symbol of the tribe of Judah, also Family Solomon. His son, Ebna grew up knowing about the identity of his father and become an adult known by his own queen. Ebna was crowned and named Menelik I and traveled to Jerusalem to meet his father. Solomon at first doubted the truth of his paternity, but over time felt an affinity with the boy and see the antique ring on the finger of Menelik I recognized his offspring. From then on, King Menelik I lived with and gave great secrets of the young Ethiopian Jerusalem.
Solomon was struggling in his homeland and gave him the Ark of the Covenant containing the Ten Commandments of Moses original; by Menelik I order of his father led the "Tablets of Moses" to Ethiopia and made the trip accompanied by twelve thousand Israeli Jews. According to the Orthodox Church, the ark there still remains today and is monitored and covered by a single priest, who dedicates his life to save her, being substituted for generations.

Gold stands for the wealth of Africa, which has so often been exploited by non-Africans, leaving the continent impoverished, despite its great natural resources.

It follows on the 1983 "Mama Africa" which includes the brilliant song that gives name to the album and of course the-familiar "Johnny B Goode" a cover of Chuck Berry classic. Between 1983 and 1987 Tosh just traveling through Africa, gave a few concerts and recovering from abuse suffered by the police several times. Deep down in Jamaica close to Mandeville
Back up in the woods on top of a hill
There stood an old hut made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B Goode
He never learned to read or write so well
But he could play his guitar like ringin' a bell yell
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny be good tonight!
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny B. Goode...
He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Sitting in a tree in the railroad track
Old engineer in the train sitting in the shade
Strummin' with the rhythm that them drivers made
People passing by would stop and say
Oh my oh my what the boy can play
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny be good tonight!
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny B. Goode...
Mama said son you gotta be a man
You gotta be the leader of a reggae band
People coming in from miles around
To hear you play until the sun goes down
Boy someday your name will be in the lights
Saying Johnny B Goode tonight
I said go, go Johnny!
Johnny be good tonight!
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny you better be good
Said go, go Johnny!
Johnny be good tonight!
Go, go Johnny!

Peter Tosh - No Nuclear War
"No Nuclear War" is song that gives name to the 7th and final album by Peter Tosh. Launched in 1987, and is winner of the 30th Annual GRAMMY Awards in the category Best Reggae Recording
No Nuclear War
We don't want no nuclear war
With nuclear war we won't get far
I said that We don't want no nuclear war
With nuclear war we won't get far
Said no, just another holocaust
It's just another holocaust
And we can't take no more
(CHORUS)
Too many people are hungry
They don't have food to eat
They are naked
'Cause they don't have clothes to wear
They are going insane
Because of the condition
A million babies
Are suffering from malnutrition
CHORUS
I can't take no more
I saw WWI
Where lotsa trouble begun
I saw WWII
When the pirates came right through
Lookin' for WWIII
But you got to set me free
Free from the chains
And this here misery
CHORUS
We can't take no more
Unemployment
I said the rate is high
So much sick people
I'm sure they gonna die
So much mad people
Gettin' ready to explode
'Fore somebody
Come help them carry this load
CHORUS
One country deploying MX
Another country deploying SS
Inflation goin' way up high
And the dollar is going way down low
CHORUS
Crying, bawling, they can't take no more
I hear them moaning they can't take no more
They don't wanna die
They want to go to Heaven, yeah
But they can't
They can't take no more
They gettin' low
They can't take no more
They gettin' grief
They can't take no more
They gettin' beat
They can't take no more
They gettin' lazy
Cause They can't take no more
Bored
They can't take no more
Frustrated
They can't take no more
Pleading for them
They can't take no more
Can't you hear me pleading for them
Cause They can't take no more

And happiness

I see Johnny with his head hanging down
Wondering how many schillings left in that pound
Cost of living it is rising so high
Dollar see that have heart attack and die
Bills and budgets are waiting
Finance ministers anticipating
Unemployment is rising
And I hear my people, they're crying
The day the dollar die
Things are gonna be better
The day the dollar die
No more corruption
The day the dollar die
People will respect eachother
The day the dollar die
Tell me brother
Is there something I can do
Don't you let frustrations make you blue
Time is hard
And I know that is true
But if you pick yourself up
That's all you've got to do
Things can be much better
If we can come together
Long time we been divided
And it's time we be inited
The day the dollar die
Gonna be better
The day the dollar die
I won't need no pockets
The day the dollar die
Don't have to be frettin'
The day the dollar die
Now I see you standing on your feet
And you can also make two ends meet
Never you let life problems get you down
There is always a solution to be found
Bills and budgets are mourning
Finance ministers groaning

And I hear my people crying from the ghetto
The day the dollar die
It's gonna be nice
The day the dollar die

The day this here dollar die
There be no more inflation
The day the dollar die

The day Sammy dollar die

And I'm livin' the present
And I'm walking in the future
I'm just a mystic man
Got to be a mystic man
I man don't
Eat up your fried chicken
Not lickin'
I man don't
Eat up them frankfurters
Garbage
I man don’t
Eat down the hamburger
can’t do that
I man don’t
Drink pink, blue, yellow, green soda
(CHORUS)
Just a mystic man
Got to be a mystic man
I man don't
No I don't
Play fools' games on Saturday
And I man don't
No I don't
Congregate on a Sunday
Such a mystic man
Just a mystic man
(CHORUS)
Just a mystic man
Got to be a mystic man
I'm just a Mystic Man
I man don't
I don't drink no champagne
No I don't
And I man don't
I don't sniff them cocaine
Choke brain
I man don't
No I don't
Don't take a morphine
Dangerous
I man don't
I don't take no heroin
No no no
(CHORUS)
'Cause I'm a man of the past
And I'm livin' in the present
And I'm walking in the future
Stepping in the future
Man of the past
And I'm livin' the present
And I'm walking in the future
I'm just a mystic man

Peter Tosh - Don't Look Back
This music is part of the first album recorded in the Rolling Stones Records, with the name "Bush Doctor" launched in 1978. This song is a duet between Peter Tosh and Mick Jagger.
If it's love that you're running from
There is no hiding place
Just your problems, no one else's problems
You just have to face
If you just put your hand in mine
We're gonna leave all our troubles behind
Gonna walk and don't look back
Gonna walk and don't look back
Now if your first lover let you down
There's something that can be done
Don't kill your faith in love
Remembering what's become
Places behind you, there to remind you
Now if your first lover let you down
There's something that can be done
Gonna heal your faith in love
Remembering what's been done
Now if your first lover let you down
There's something that can be done
Gonna heal your faith in love
Remembering what's been done
How far you been walkin' now about hundred miles
You still got some more to walk
I know, I got a little more to go
I'm gettin' kind of tired but I got to keep on walkin'
I'm walkin' barefoot
You've got to walk and don't look back
There is no hiding place
Just your problems, no one else's problems
You just have to face
If you just put your hand in mine
We're gonna leave all our troubles behind
Gonna walk and don't look back
Gonna walk and don't look back
Now if your first lover let you down
There's something that can be done
Don't kill your faith in love
Remembering what's become
Places behind you, there to remind you
Now if your first lover let you down
There's something that can be done

"Fools Die" is the last song of the album Wanted Dread And Alive, which is the 5th album by Peter Tosh. It was released in 1981 in two different versions, one for USA (EMI America) and one for Europe (Rolling Stones Records)
The lips of the righteous teaches many
But fools die for want of wisdom
The rich man's wealth is in the city
Vexation of the soul is vanity
Destruction of the poor is their poverty
The poor man's wealth is in a holy, holy place
Why do you fight eachother
Why do you kill your brother
Then your reward will be the cemetery
Then your reward will be the cemetery
We got to build a better nation
Clean up, clean up Jah creation
Or there will be no future for you, you and me

What is Reggae?
Reggae is a musical genre originally developed in Jamaica in the late 1950s. While sometimes used in a broader sense to refer to most types of music Jamaican the term reggae more specifically indicates a particular type of music that originated the development of ska and rocksteady. The pinnacle of reggae occurred in the 1970s, when this genre spread throughout the world.
It features a danceable rhythm and smooth, but with a very characteristic beat. The guitar, bass and drums are the most used musical instruments.
The lyrics of reggae songs speak of social issues, especially the Jamaicans, and highlight religious issues and problems typical of poor countries.
Reggae is constantly associated with the Rastafarian religious movement, which, in fact, influenced many of the apologists style reggae musicians in the 1970s and 1980s. Anyway, thereggae deals with various matters, not restricted to the Rastafarian culture, such as love, sex and especially social criticism.
In the 1950s, began to appear the big names in reggae, for example, Delroy Wilson, Bob Andy, Burning Espear and Johnny Osbourne and the bands The Wailers, Ethiopians, Desmond Dekker and Skatalites. At this time, most radio stations in Jamaica, owned by white people, refused to play reggae. Only since the 1970s, reggae takes shape, with singers who make the music world. Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley reggae style make the hit musical worldwide. In 1971, the song I Can See Clear Now Johnny Nash takes the top on the list of various music radio in Britain and the United States.
The 70s (1970s) was the era of the great success of reggae. Several songs epoch and reached the top of the list of successful radio: with Peter Tosh Legalize It and No Woman, No Cry by Bob Marley.
Several singers and bands pass to incorporate the style of reggae from the '80s (the 1980s). Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones and Paul Simon make music, using danceable beat and sound and smooth. Currently, several singers and bands are successful in this genre: Ziggy Marley, Beres Hammond, Pulse, UB 40 and Big Mountain.
Peter Tosh - Legalize It
'' Legalize It'', the first solo album by Peter Tosh, released on Virgin Records in 1976, proved he was a talented artist and great vision was far-reaching enough to break through the small confines of his small native island of Jamaica, spreading his music around the world, and enjoyed great critical acclaim, the album is even more popular today than when it was first launched. At the time of first release of the album title song'' Legalize It'' was banned on radio in Jamaica for advocating the legalization of cannabis

Even the lawyers too
Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it
It's good for the flu
It's good for asthma
Good for tuberculosis
Even umara composis
Legalize it - don't criticize it
Legalize it and i will advertise it
